Prayer: Never Cease to Pray for Justice

I confess that I can become weighed down with sadness over the tragic circumstances of the peoples of Darfur, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Congo, the Middle East. . .so many places around the globe. How long, O Lord? How long, until You bring justice to the widow and the orphan?
O Lord, because the poor are despoiled, because the needy groan, rise up and place them in safety for which they long. You have promised to hear their cries and to bring justice. Your promises are promises that are pure and true. Be an ever-present help in their time of trouble. Be their fortress and their shield. May they feel Your everlasting arms underneath them lifting them up above this earth-life, sustaining them in the midst of this dry and barren time. Amen (Psalm 12.5-6)
