Prayer: Lesser gods

Ah, Lord God, we confess that all we have done, You have done for us. You, O Lord, are our Peace. Forgive us when we turn to lesser gods for help and allow them to lord over us. Open our eyes so we may see where we have allowed a disposition to rule over us instead of submitting to Your Spirit.

May we learn to bring You into everything we do; every thought, every emotion, every relationship we bring under Your Lordship, O God. We bow to You, ever meek, ever humble, lowly in heart. May we not turn aside to the right or to the left, but seek to follow only You in all we do. Write Your law on our hearts, O Lord. Be our God and we will be Your people. Forgive our iniquity and remember our sin no more. May Your Spirit rule in our hearts and minds so that we may train ourselves in godliness, which is valuable not only in this life, but in the life to come. We set our hope on the living God. Fill us with Your Spirit so we may be an example to others in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity. Amen.
